Who were the "Regulatory Partners"? It wasn't FDNY.

Day 76

August 18 to August 27, 2007: It took only 9 days from Bloomberg and Scoppetta to quickly frame Captain Peter Bosco and two fire chiefs as scapegoats.

August 27 to today, November 11, 2007 is 46 days.  Now that the evidence is available, how slow Bloomberg and Scoppetta are to exonerate those whose reputations they have tarnished.  It takes 'big men' to admit a mistake was made.  Is Mayor Bloomberg a big man or just another small minded politician.  Every day you delay to exonerate these three fire officers, Mr. Mayor, you look smaller and smaller and add salt to the wounds you wrongly inflicted on three innocent fire officers. Any politician who allows such a travesty to continue is evil and unworthy of holding office.

In prior blogs we wrote about who the "regulatory partners"were in the decontamination and deconstruction of 130 Liberty Liberty Street. See the following blogs:

The more FreePetey investigates the stronger the evidence grows that FDNY was not one of the regulators for this project.  The evidence is so strong that there is no longer any doubt.  Take a look at what the US EPA wrote shortly after the tragic fire.  Please notice who the US EPA has worked cooperatively together with over the last three years: NYS DOL, NYS DEC, NYC DEP, OSHA and the New York City Department of Buildings.  US EPA calls them "regulatory partners".  This letter again shows that FDNY was not a "regulatory partner" in this project.  Remember what Mayor "the bloom is off the berg" Bloomberg said about regulatory oversight of this project (Click Here).

"Oversight of the decontamination and deconstruction of 130 Liberty Street is unusually complex, and involves Federal, State and City agencies. "

Yeah, Mr. Mayor, it was unusually complex all right.  So complex that you did not understand that FDNY was intentionally excluded from the ranks of the regulators who were given oversight responsibilities.

In your panic to shore up your image in the aftermath of the August 18, 2007 fire, you hastily lashed out against an agency that was not even one of the "regulators". In a press conference, you pilloried three innocent fire officers exposing them to public ridicule and condemnation.  You were probably one of the first to laugh at the hunting mishap of  V.P. Dick Cheney and the last to think about the victim of Cheney's blunder.  Yet, Mr. Mayor, V.P. Dick Cheney only had one victim. You have three. You have wounded the reputations and overturned the lives of three victims, Mr. Mayor.  At least, V.P. Cheney's shot was an accident.  You hit the target you aimed at Mr. Mayor: three of them and wounded their reputations and turned their lives upside down. Maybe with all of your billions and billions of dollars you feel shielded when accusations are hurled against you.  Put yourself into the shoes of the fire officers whom you have falsely accused.  They are not shielded by billions and billions of dollars.  They are sensitive to these false accusations. By not rectifying the wrong you have done to them; you are compounding it.  You should be ashamed of yourself.

Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly (Psalms 6:10)
