Now, that the raison d'être of FreePetey has been achieved, it is appropriate to express our gratitude to those who have helped FreePetey along the way:
1) Deep Throat: Our mole within FDNY. He (or she) put us in possession of the documentary evidence and real time intelligence that exculpated us and made us aware of their next move. Our gratitude knows no bounds. Deep Throat was indignant that FDNY would scapegoat its own. FDNY is a ship with many leaks. If you have a secret, don't entrust it to FDNY.
2) The Free Press: Without the free press especially the newspapers, our goose would have been cooked. That they couldn't screw us in secret restrained their hand. Hug a journalist and buy a newspaper whenever you can.
3) The Constitution of the United States and the State of New York: Thank God we live in America. Anywhere else we wouldn't have had a chance. Only in America can the little guy stand up to the big guy.
4) Our lawyers: Thank God for Lawyers. "The first thing we do," said the character in Shakespeare's Henry VI, is "kill all the lawyers." The bad guys want to get rid of the lawyers. Remember that. Lawyers stood between us and them. Just get in trouble and see how important a lawyer is. Our team of lawyers was first rate and that so many volunteered to help is remarkable. Lawyers are attracted to an injustice as sharks are attracted to blood. That's a good thing not a bad thing. Hug a lawyer.
4) Our Court's of Justice: As little was our confidence in the OATH process (only because Scoppetta was the final arbiter of OATH), great was our confidence in the Judges and Courts of the State of New York. No judge would have let the City of New York screw us and this too restrained their hand. Hug a judge.
5) The wives: Perhaps we just should have just stood back and let the wives make things right as someone suggested. Scoppetta and company wouldn't have had a chance. It wouldn't have been a fair fight.
Just begun, More to come
